Reinstalling Microsoft® Windows® XP with RAID Configuration


      

The Windows XP with RAID Configuration has been preinstalled on your computer. Under normal circumstances you should not need to reinstall the operating system.

NOTICE:

It is recommended that you do not reinstall the Windows XP operating system over your currently installed Windows operating system unless you are advised by a technical support representative.

To reinstall Windows XP with RAID Configuration, please perform the following steps in the order listed:

  1. Turn off the computer and remove the external devices including the docking station, Monitor, keyboard and mouse.

  2. Run RAID setup (Please refer to the "How to setup the RAID" doc)

  3. Set the computer to boot from the CD-ROM. Please refer to your User Manual for the settings of the System Configured Utility (SCU).

  4. Insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive. Make sure that the computer is connected to the AC power, and then reboot the computer.

  5. Press any key when asked Press any key to start up from the CD… Windows XP is now prepared to run

  6. Press the F6 key when the massage "Press F6 if you need to install third party SCSI or RAID driver" appears.

  7. When the Windows setup menu appear, press the "S" key to "Specify Additional Device"

  8. Inserted the floppy disk with the RAID driver copied in to it.

  9. Select the "WinXP Promise Fastrack100 (tm) Lite Controller" and then press Enter

  10. The system will now read from the floppy drive and return to Windows setup menu. And then Press Enter to continue.

  11. Press the Enter key to install Windows XP when the Windows XP Setup screen appears. Press the R key to repair a Windows XP installation. To quit without installing, press the F3 key.

  12. Press the F8 key to agree to the terms at the Windows XP Licensing Agreement screen.

  13. On the Windows XP Setup screen, use the arrow keys to select which partition to install to. After selecting a partition, press ENTER.

  14. The next screen asks you for which file system to install. Use the arrow keys to make your selection, and then press ENTER. The next screen checks the hard disk.

  15. The Setup program is now copying files and will initialize the Windows XP configuration to restart automatically when finish.

  16. The Windows XP startup screen will appear momentarily. The installation now begins.

  17. If necessary, make changes to the regional and language settings, and then click Next.

  18. Type your name and the name of the organization, if applicable, and then click Next.

  19. Type in Product Key number and change the name of the computer. Select your Date and Times Settings. Select your Network Settings, the default settings is Typical Settings. The installation continues.

  20. When the installation is finished, the computer automatically restarts. Windows XP starts. In the Display Settings dialog box, click OK. In the Monitor Settings dialog box, click OK.

  21. On the Welcome to Microsoft Windows screen, click Next. If there is a network interface controller (NIC) in the computer, Windows XP checks for Internet connectivity on the network. On the How will this computer connect to the Internet? screen, click Skip. Use the Internet Connection Wizard once the installation is completed. If there is a modem in the computer, a Do you want to set up Internet         access now screen appears. Click No, not at this time, and then click Next.

  22. On the Ready to register with Microsoft screen, click No, not at this time, and then click Next. Windows Setup needs to know who is going to use this computer. Type in the appropriate names, and  then click Next. On the Thank you screen, click Finish.

  23. The Welcome screen will appear momentarily. The Windows XP installation is complete. The Windows XP desktop appears.

  24. Reinstall the appropriate drivers.
